    Do I Have a Warrant?

The Precinct 5 Constable’s Office Warrant Division sends a courtesy postcard to the address of defendants with outstanding warrants informing them of the warrant and how to take care of it. If the defendant fails to respond within 1-2 weeks, the warrants are entered into a statewide database that is accessible to law enforcement agencies and assigned to a Deputy Constable to pursue the arrest of the defendant. If the defendant has any interaction with the police, they are subject to arrest.

Our Warrant Division has periodic “warrant roundups” deploying local deputy constables, deputy sheriffs, and municipal police officers in specified areas, concentrating on arresting all defendants with outstanding warrants. Based on the successes in past roundups, future operations are certain.

In concert with all Hays County JP courts, the five Hays County Constable’s Offices, and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office several “amnesty” periods have been organized. During this period defendants who have outstanding warrants for their arrest may appear at a JP court without the threat of being arrested to arrange payment of their warrant fees.  These amnesty periods are announced in local papers.

If you are concerned that you may have an outstanding warrant, please contact the Precinct 5 Constable’s Office at 512-295-3030. If you do have an active warrant, we can advise you on how best to take care of it.
