    Dr. Michelle Cohen Biography

Dr. Michelle Cohen brings her passion for community service through her role as the Commissioner for Precinct 2, an area that runs along the I-35 corridor from East Buda to Kyle, and includes downtown Kyle. Though Precinct 2 is the smallest precinct geographically, it's very dense in housing and business, so Michelle understands the importance of listening to her neighbors and putting them first when making decisions that impact their lives.

As a 40 year resident of Hays County, Michelle's lifelong commitment to community advocacy drives her position as a Hays County official. Her experience in public service, paired with her Doctorate in Management in Organizational Leadership, prepare her to serve her constituents as best she can.

The boards Michelle sits on include: CARTS, Kyle TIRZ 2, Kyle TIRZ 5, Kyle TIRZ 6, the Hays County Food Bank, the Judicial Review Board, the Capital Area Housing Finance Corporation, the Kyle Sportsplex Taskforce, and the Clear Air Coalition. In her free time, she manages Hays Latinos United, a community grassroots organization, and mentors students as a Seedling Mentor with the Seedling Mentor Program. Seedling's mission is to mitigate the impact of parental incarceration on children in Central Texas through school-based mentoring. Additionally, she has written a children's book, called 'A Day in the Life of a Hays County Commissioner," that helps explain the role of a county commissioner so children have an understanding of a role that directly impacts their lives.

As Michelle represents and serves Precinct 2, her deep ties to the community, combined with a wealth of experience and a proven track record of service, position her as a dedicated advocate whose goal is to make lasting, positive changes for the residents of Precinct 2.
