    Biography of Judge Sandra Bryant, Precinct 5

    Judge Sandra Bryant was elected to her first term in office in 2022 to the Justice Court, Precinct 5. Pct. 5 includes downtown Buda, Garlic Creek, Ruby Ranch, Sunfield, Hillside Terrace, and areas along FM 2001 among others. In addition to her capacity as Justice of the Peace, Judge Bryant has served the greater Hays in a variety of roles for more than 20 years.

    From 2011–2017, Sandra Bryant served as the first elected African American Trustee on the Hays CISD School Board where she was twice elected to officer roles as Vice President and Secretary. In an effort to support awareness and engagement across the area, Mrs. Bryant founded the non-profit organization Keeping Communities Connected in 2011. She serves today as its CEO and oversees its community relations, mentorship, scholarship, and counseling initiatives.

    Mrs. Bryant has also been recognized for her work as the President of the Hays CISD Council of PTAs, President of Summer Pointe HOA, Chair and co-founder of the Buda Police Foundation, and Membership Chair of the Lions Club of Buda. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Buda Citizen Police Academy, received the Hays County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy Sergeant’s Award, acted as a Kyle Area Youth Advisor Council Volunteer, and served in the United States Army Reserves.

    In her role as judge, Mrs. Bryant is an active member of several justice professional organizations. These include the Justice of the Peace-Constables Association, Justice Court Judges Association, Texas Association of Truancy and Dropout Prevention, and Texas Justice Court Training Center. She is also an active speaker to civic organizations that include the Ready or Not (RON) 2.0 Conference, Ladies Living Out Loud, Sunfield Elementary School, and Gary Job Corps WOW Women’s Conference to name a few.

    Judge Bryant is also a first-generation college graduate, earning an associate degree in law enforcement from Austin Community College, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Texas State University, and a master’s degree in human service counseling from Liberty University. She is married to Ray Bryant (former Buda councilman) and resides in Buda.โ€‹
