SH 21 Corridor Preservation Study

The purpose of the proposed SH 21 Corridor Preservation Study project was to determine long-term roadway improvements necessary to improve mobility and safety on SH 21 between SH 80 and the Hays County/Caldwell County line near US 183 to allow for preservation of needed future right of way. The Study included an evaluation of future roadway alternatives with the goal of identifying and preserving the required right of way for future corridor improvements. The Study area included a 17-mile section of SH 21 through Hays County, connecting SH 80 to US 183/SH 130. This segment of SH 21 lies at the border of Hays County and Caldwell County and serves as a significant link in both the local and regional transportation network, connecting multiple cities, school districts and major highway corridors. The Recommendation Report was completed in late 2020 and findings were presented to the Hays County Commissioners Court in early 2021.
