The following criteria must be met for a road to fall under the Hays County Transportation Department’s supervision:

1. The road is not within a corporate/city boundary.
2. It does not have an FM (Farm-to-Market), RR (Ranch Road), RM (Ranch-to-Market), LP (Loop), IH (Interstate Highway) or SH (State Highway) designation.
3. It is not a privately maintained road.
4. It is in a subdivision where the developer has met County road standards and thereby has given the maintenance rights to the County, which has accepted them.
