Our department is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of county roads, signage on county roads, and county Right-of-Way (ROW) areas, ensuring all users ease of mobility throughout Hays County. Additionally, we focus on forward-thinking planning to support the future development and expansion of our road network, accommodating the growing needs of our community. Whether it's routine road repairs, installation of signage, or long-term transportation infrastructure projects, the Hays County Transportation Department plays a key role in shaping the county’s transportation landscape now and in the years to come.

Mission Statement: The department provides the citizens of Hays County with a safe, effective and cost-efficient system of roadways as well as addressing concerns for the environment and quality of life in planning and maintaining the road system. The Department works with other county departments, offices and political subdivisions to provide well-managed and customer-oriented government services.
